On November 12, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 occurred on the Iran-Iraq border. The quake, which reached a depth of 23 km (just over 14 miles) according to the US Geological Survey, was felt across the region with aftershocks hitting Pakistan, Lebanon, Kuwait and Turkey, news agencies in those countries reported.

Over 500 people died in the deadliest earthquake of 2017, and it is estimated that about 70,000 people are now in need of shelter in this cold winter season.

Embrace Relief has been very quick in responding to the victims in the region and extended a helping hand to families by distributing tents in villages heavily damaged by the earthquake.

Our volunteers quickly provided shelter to twenty families who lost their homes in the villages of Kani Bardina, Cerdasana and Kaneskan in the Sharazur District of Sulaymaniyah Governorate. More is on the way.
